Career Talk by Pharmaniaga Company : “Enhance Employability”

On 24^th February 2010, Mr. Abdul Aziz Jameran and Mr. Mohd Khairizal Isa, Head and Assistant Head of Recruitment and Executive Department respectively from Pharmaniaga Berhad came to UTP to conduct a talk entitled “Enhance Employability”. The former was the speaker of the day. “Expect for the unexpected and be flexible”. This was the first thing mentioned by Mr. Abdul Aziz Jameran which managed to grab the audience attention.

7.45 am – A group of final year students already come for registration. They all look very passionate to participate in JIW.

8.00 am – The registration counter was opened. Registered students were given a pocket file to be used during the whole JIW.

9.00 am – The first session was delivered by Pn. Zuraida Zainal Abidin, Head of Group Talent Sourcing, Group Human Resource Division of PETRONAS. With the students being patiently waited from the morning, they give an outstanding participation in this morning session. Pn. Zuraida explained extensively about current global employment outlook, enhancing graduates employability as well as opportunities to work with PETRONAS.

Career Program by Lott Inspection

After a long wait, the first Career Program for TEC X has been successfully conducted on 10^th to 12^th February 2010 by Lott Inspection. On the first day, Mr. Affendy Wahap, who holds the position as Sales & Business Development Manager from Lott Inspection was invited as our speaker. Before he began his talk, the audiences were already thrilled by his spectacular background who graduated from Sunway University College in business study.

Mr. Affendy started his talk by introducing the background of the Lott Inspection itself. According to him, Lott Inspection holds three branches which located at Shah Alam, Bintulu and Labuan. He also stated that, Lott Inspection is the best company in Malaysia which provides inspection services on component, object and equipment used, without destructing or impairing the usefulness and integrity of the component.

The non destructive testing commonly applied in oil & gas sector, power generation, metal fabrication, marine and railways. While, Lott inspection focus more on pipeline inspection. Regarding to that, he explained on the possible consequences of non-testing. This could lead to loss of life, give negative impact to environment and tarnish company’s, national’s and country image.

On 6th February, HRM conducted a gathering and Solat Hajat among TEC X member. At 8.30 pm,all muslim committee gathered at Pocket D. We start by reciting Surah Yaasin, then followed by performing Isyak prayer and Hajat prayer. After that, Bob from HRM gave a Tazkirah to all committee.  It was a nice tazkirah given by Bob. Refreshment also were provided after we finished the tazkirah. All committees really enjoyed the gathering. It was a really good job done by HRM since in an organisation, we should have such religious activity at least once in a while.
